Holcim Awards National Competition 2015 for top sustainable constructions in Indonesia

Holcim Indonesia announced on 26 February 2015 six winners of Holcim Awards 2015 national level in Menara Peninsula Hotel Jakarta. Presenting the awards were Deputy Governor for Transportation, Trade and Industry, in the Provincial Government of Jakarta, Dr. Ir. Sutanato Soehodho, M. Eng., board of judges, representative of Indonesia Architecture Association, and Commercial Director of Holcim Indonesia, Jan Kunigk. The six winning projects show how building with sustainable construction in mind can enhance the region’s human, natural and economic performance.

“It is our honour as organizer to see the enthusiasm and positive responses given by the participants from Indonesia and as a token of appreciation for them, we proceed this national competition”, said Juhans Suryantan, Vice President Sales of Holcim Indonesia and Chairman of the National Committee of the Holcim Awards competition.

After the blast of Regional Holcim Awards 2014 Asia Pacific ceremony in Jakarta, last November, where 3 out of 423 projects in Indonesia came out as winners, Holcim Indonesia gives appreciation to the 420 registered projects through a national scale awards.

Holcim Awards national scale selects winners in two categories: Main Category and Next Generations. Main Category is a category for engineers, architects, contractors and project owners who apply the concept of Sustainable Construction for their building projects. While the Next Generations is open to students and young professionals aged 18-30 years who want to enrich their ideas and design with the concept of Sustainable Constructions. 420 assessed project ideas are those which have been included in the Asia Pacific Holcim Awards competition.

Comes out as winners receiving prizes of trip to visit Europe and Singapore and scholarships, are:

Main Category

1. Environmental Education Center in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta by Yu Sing Liem of Akanoma
2. Orangutan Haven by Ian Singleton of PanEco Foundation
3. Beranda Jakarta at Museum National Indonesia by Ary Indrajanto of Aboday

Next Generations

1. Pasar Senen – Integrated Public Market by Pungky Dwi Arfanto, student of Urban Design of Gajah Mada Univeristy, Yogyakarta
2. Livable Autonomous Circle by Ray Prasetya Thamrin and his team, students of Architecture of University of Indonesia
3. Pondok Pesantren Panti Asuhan “Hidayatur Rahman” by Hidayatur Rahma Islamic Boarding School and Orphanage by Mudammad Rochim, student of Architecture of Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta

Prof. Ir. Gunawan Tjahjono, Professor of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia as Chairman of the Board of the Holcim Awards National Competition Jury said, “All the ideas and projects that go, all come as very interesting. I am glad to see so many people in Indonesia are interested in applying the concept of Sustainable Construction. This is an improvement, we hope in the future more and more buildings can provide more value to the society.”
