Asia Pacific Green Leadership Recognized

Eight exceptional green building projects and seven leading companies have been named finalists in the World Green Building Council’s (WorldGBC’s)inaugural Asia Pacific Regional Network Leadership Awards in Green Building.

The eight finalists in the Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance category were chosen for demonstrating innovation in green building.  These developments were selected from a field of 57 green building projects from around the Asia Pacific region.

“The judges were impressed with how sustainability is being integrated into a range of building types.  The finalists range from a high-performance hospital in Singapore to a boutique hotel in Malaysia, and from a sustainable school in Taiwan to an early childhood centre in New Zealand.  These projects underscore the WorldGBC’s message: sustainable buildings are for everyone,” says the WorldGBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Henley.

The seven companies selected in the Business Leadership in Sustainability category were chosen from a field of 55 companies.  This category recognizes organizations that have made social, economic and environmental sustainability a central part of their business model.

“We are delighted with the calibre of entries in the business leadership category.  The seven finalists are ‘walking the talk’ and are demonstrating that the green building movement is gaining momentum throughout the region,” Ms Henley explains.
