Dubai, UAE; 24 April 2014:Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ( DEWA ) has received delegations from the Ministry of Health, Dubai Airports and EmGreen Energy & Environment Solutions at its Sustainable Building in Al Quoz, as part of DEWA ‘s ongoing stakeholder outreach initiatives.

DEWA ‘s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz is the largest government building in the world with a Platinum rating for green buildings from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The building saves 66% of energy consumption and reduces water consumption by 48% by drawing on the highest international standards in green buildings.

The visitors observed the techniques used in the Sustainable Building, the building’s eco-friendly operational technologies, and the advanced applications in green building management systems. The delegations also reviewed the various components and installations in the sustainable building including internal water treatment plants, landscaping, solar power, the employee’s children’s nursery, sports facilities for staff, the customer service centre and DEWA customer services. The visit included a presentation to introduce the benefits of the sustainable building. The engineering team addressed the questions raised by the delegations.

The eco-friendly construction of the building supports the framework for the long-term Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and to enhance the status of Dubai as a global financial, business, tourism and green economy hub. It also reflects DEWA ‘s vision to become a sustainable world-class utility.

The delegations thanked DEWA for the tour of the Sustainable Building, and expressed their appreciation, support, and contribution towards strengthening mutual cooperation.
