Taiwan: two factories earn global recognition for green design

Taiwan’s National Science Council (NSC) touted Tuesday energy saving and carbon reduction programs in the science parks it has established, noting that two plants have received certifications from an international rating system on green building designs.

Taiwan’s panel maker AU Optronics Corp.’s (AUO, TAIEX:2409) 8.5 generation plant located in Houli Park in Taichung’s Central Taiwan Science Park achieved a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum certification, the rating system’s highest level, according to the council.
