India: Shairu Gems’ Building Awarded “LEED Gold status” by IGBC

DTC Sightholder Shairu Gems’ new diamond factory has been awarded “LEED Gold status” by the Indian Green Building Council.

 The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally-recognized rating system for the design and construction of energy-efficient and high-performing buildings.

 Located in Surat, Shairu Gems’ building is the first and currently the only diamond factory that has attained such recognition. This demonstrates the commitment of Shairu Gems’ management towards sustainable development and corporate responsibility.

 The certification of Shairu Gems’ diamond factory was based on green design and construction features including energy-efficient building structure planning; use of eco-friendly construction materials; water resource conservation; and optimization in energy consumption.
