The Tai’an municipal government issued a draft on green buildings. At the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15), Tai’an is expected to have 1.5 million square meters of green buildings, which will account for 20 percent of total new buildings, according to Sdnews.com.

Green buildings adopt green materials, collect rainwater to recycle, and provide a better working and living environment. According to the draft, at least 50 percent of government-funded buildings should be green ones. By the end of 2014, all government-funded buildings will be environmentally-friendly, from design to construction.
