India : GBCI establishes South East Asia Office

Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), an organization independently recognizing excellence in the industry of green business performance and global practice, announced its new office establishment in Gurgaon, India. The office will serve to facilitate the global growth of GBCI along with their sustainability programs.

According to Mahesh Ramanujam, president of Green Building Council India, GBCI drives adoption of green business practices towards proper certification and credential standards to which they advance the global competitiveness of enhancing environmental performance and human health benefits. With GBCI in India, efforts will continue to grow in the green built environment with new added support and on the ground capabilities. GBCI India has appointed Mili Majumdar as managing director for their operations.

Ramanujam complimented Ms. Majumdar on her position in GBCI, stating she is perfectly suited for complementing the work to drive market transformation in sustainability throughout India. Her responsibilities will include technical adaptation and customization of the portfolio of GBCI rating systems to the Asia Pacific region. She will also oversee customer education,coordination, and training as well as develop market mechanisms for  tools and rating systems adoption in the region.
