Primaver Residences in Cagayan de Oro City, one of Italpinas Development Corp.’s property projects, has just received an Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification from the International Finance Corp. (IFC) for the first completed condominium project in East Asia and the second project in the Philippines.

According to Romolo Nati, Italpinas Chairman, the Primavera Residence features a shading facade that allows the building to reduce temperature in each unit and comes with a natural ventilation system and an inner courtyard. By implementing renewable energy through solar panels, the overall energy consumption for the building is brought down. For example, there was a 30% reduction in the use of AC units for Primavera Residences.

Nati also added that all of Italpinas’ projects in their pipeline are up for EDGE certification. Taking this certification for green building recognition will translate the real estate firm to higher sales.

With EDGE, the property developers are able to build and brand their properties as green buildings in a fast, easy and affordable way since it is supported by a software that works towards solutions for energy efficiency, water and the energy used to make building materials by at least 20 percent.
