India : Green buildings to be established in smaller towns

india city 1

Without a doubt, green buildings are on the rise as a global trend. With green buildings becoming a critical part of today’s world, more development has been focused into building eco-friendly structures with efforts to conserve water, consume less power and improve efficiency in terms of maintenance.

Since several green buildings had been constructed in Chennai, there has been improvement of green building awareness in Coimbatore. Nine green building rating systems had been launched by the council for new buildings, township, schools, factories, existing buildings, and landscapes in the area. The council added that it is better to go in sustainable development before it becomes mandatory.

Rajesh B. Lund, Coimbatore chapter chairman of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), had requested the council to identify a Corporation school with good ventilation in an attempt to make the school into a green building in the hopes of promoting green awareness and encouraging educational institutions to go in for green buildings.

Not only were these efforts focused on green school development, in Coimbatoe for instance, individual residential houses and factory units had also been constructed into green buildings to reinforce similar efforts to smaller towns across India.
